#Advice needed please! Assuming this is #Clematis wilt? Having read up online it says to cut it off as close to the ground as possible and see if it will reshoot. What I can’t find is advice on whether to plant another? Can I plant another Clematis nearby and use the obselisk or is that a stupid idea? 08-08-19
It seems to be a bad year for clematis wilt. If you cut it right down it should sprout again quite quickly. I’m not sure, but it should be ok to plant another one close by if you want to
@anges thanks for all your help pointing me in the right direction! I agree that @joanboston is too modest! Thanks for the advice Joan - I will do that - it’s got a second stem which so far remains healthy but I might try a second anyway because they are quite spindly and needs more oomph on the obelisk!

I'm not sure but @joanboston is the Clematis guru ☺ Would you be able to help please Joan? ☺
@anges ooooh a Clematis Guru - a little sad that’s not @joanboston’s screen name! She has a fabulous garden too so fingers crossed for some advice 🤞
Good luck 🍀

@anges @victorial you are both too kind, I do like clematis it’s true, but certainly no guru😂
Thanks Joan, that's good and helpful to know for future reference ☺🙏 @joanboston
Too modest 😊 @joanboston
I would cut back and try and hide the base from direct sunlight as the roots will cook on new plants

@wtwitchell6969 thanks! I’ll bear that in mind when I do it! Good to know.
Look forward to the photos ☺
