Most novice gardeners don't know, or use the scientific names. I have been gardening for 30+ years, and still don't know them all by their proper names. Synonymous names surround us in everything we do. 😣

Yes @KariSamuel but it should be reversed if I search for a star cactus and the right one comes up as a astrophytum the label should be Astrophytum not star cactus that has Haworthia in there also.

True. We have some work to do! Thanks for your feedback!

@weeden, looking for a source who really know their cacti and worthia - are you such a person? 😁

@Yollymac my memory isn’t great enough to remember all of them, to many. I’m good at looking them up and I have a lot of odd succulents and cacti

Hi Brian, I am just checking in if perhaps you may have selected the wrong ID for this plant as Kalanchoe Synsypala doesn’t trail, it’s shaped differently, is a lighter green with brown / red banding around the leaves. 😊

Hi @Yollymac it is in the shade it’s 110 degrees, there is a little bandying on the edges. It is probably the variety Dissecta walking cups.

@KariSamuel @brightcolours @cyndi - are you please able to help with an ID on this plant: here is the link for Kalanchoe Synsepala to the ICN, the plants team are asking about this entry. Dysecta or walking Kalanchoe are synonyms. http://www.crassulaceae.ch/de/artikel?akID=68&aaID=2&aiID=S&aID=2844 thanks for your help.

@Yollymac - This doesn't appear to be the same plant to me. The ICN link shows discrepancies with this one, certainly on the leaf shape alone. 🤔 @KelsiBriana - thoughts?

@KariSamuel I agree, on the leaf shape and structure.

@KelsiBriana @cyndi - that’s great - do we think it needs a separate listing? Thanks for all your time and effort!

Ok, so @KelsiBriana we also have separate listings for Fred Ives and Fred Ives Crested, also listed together by the ICN as is the case for every created plant really. I think separate listings will be less confusing for users. @cyndi to follow. @weeden, sorry for all the notifications- we are just trying to work this one out. 🤗

Doesn’t look remotely the same as either form I have. @KelsiBriana @cyndi we need to find a happy medium between what’s the right info and what won’t confuse users.

@Muzz67 @brightcolours @KariSamuel - would love your input on how to handle this please.

Kelsi they do, however there are two very distinct different forms highlighted in the ICN and then this one. I suggest we call them form 1, 2 and 3 or something like that. Otherwise Kewensis will be confused with the other form. We need to take a slightly bigger picture view with this situation I feel.

I posted a Better picture this morning. Can’t we ID pictures with the scientific name and only have a common name used for searching? I saw a Haworthia labeled as a star cactus! That hurts. @Yollymac @KelsiBriana @cyndi
