I was told by a neighbor that they help with gophers. I had planted a few but I didn't play this one. Lol. It just popped up in an area I just dug and turned in my garden expansion.
My potato plants came from a 10 lb bag I had bought at the store. If I find ones sprouted in the bag is just plant them. I do a lot of gardening from kitchen scraps.
I have used store bought produce in the past. It can work, just we need to remember that some things, like imported garlic from China would have been irradiated slightly to "kill" it, Or it could start sprouting in your supermarket... I love planting special old types of potatoes. Last year I saw some "Vitelotte" black potatoes in our supermarket, bought them, planted them and surprised everyone!

I don't expect any turn out from the ones I planted.
