I planted two Dahlias on the same day, one didn't really want to show it's face... 🤔 so I dug it out, and my suspicion was right, I planted it upside down... hehehe funny thing is, the sprout was growing anyways! 😉

I just bought this bulb and I live in the zone 6a. When should I sow this in my garden outside? Or should I plant it to grow inside?

@ZenAmore dahlias are very susceptible to root rot, so it's important to water them in 💦 after planting, and they don't need to be watered again until u see green emerge. Since Mother Nature has a mind of her own, I personally like to grow them indoors until a cpl inches of plant 🌱 has emerged, then move them outside after no threat of frost

@bpetty55 Thank you for the tips. I will give this a try. Since I'll be starting them inside, would it be okay to do it now? That way when the weather is nicer out I can transfer it outside? Do you recommend any specific pot size?

@ZenAmore sure.... now is a good time to start some indoors. I have several of my own growin inside now 🌱🙂 since ur planter is only a temp home, probably just something big enough that the tubers have plenty of room, and something that has good drainage to deter the roots from rot. But remember, only the initial watering until u see green, then u can begin regular watering...... post pics of ur beauties when they bloom!

@bpetty55 sure thing, I will document the entire process! Thank you so much!!! 🤗

Ha Brittany! I may try a couple dahlias this year then. @bpetty

Good luck @ZenAmore , and @lesliecole49 u should! They're relatively easy to grow as long as u don't over water in the beginning, and they make beautiful flawless blooms!
I had to buy these, they are already sprouting in the bag! They practice begged me! 😁
