This #JapaneseMaple - with its pink new leaves which age to white - is looking so pretty in the sunshine this morning. It's been living in a BIG pot for a year and, so far, seems to be doing well. Hoping that the #gardentags care tips will help me keep it so.
This pretty tree still continues to be happy in its pot (phew). However it’s put up a very vigorous shoot that’s plain green. It coming from the point where I assume the plant was grafted. HELP!! @mikethegardener and @Squares and anyone else with knowledge on this - do I cut this off to keep it true to the variety I chose (for colour in my aspirationally white garden)? I have a pic but can’t see how to add to this specific plant (not very techie 👩💻 sorry.
Thanks @Squares - I will, nervously, approach it with my secateurs later. Sorry to be so useless but is there anything I should, or shouldn’t, do to the ‘wound’?
Dont be nervous :) confidently snip the shoot close to the main branch, without damaging it, make sure your secateurs are nice and sharp, you dont need to do anything to the area you've cut 😁👍good luck
