Acacia baileyana Purpurea

Golden Mimosa

Acacias, or wattles, are shrubs and trees that belong to the pea family. They are evergreen plants grown for their attractive foliage and bright yellow scented blooms. The genus varies in size from small shrubs, ideal for containers, to large trees of 10m or more in height. 'Cootamundra Wattle' - 'Golden Mimosa' - is a fast growing evergreen small tree or small shrub that has fern-like leaves that are pale grey-blue in colour, flushed purple when young and carried on purple flushed stems. In late winter to early spring, it produces long trusses of bright yellow, scented pom-pom flowers.
