This a plant that likes to have "wet feet" and so an ideal site for it is at the edge of a pond or stream. It can also be planted in a container, with plenty of watering. The soil should be, ideally, acidic or neutral.
Propagating by seed

The seed needs to be chilled before sowing in Spring. Mix the seed with sand and store in the 'fridge for 2 months before sowing, then sow the seed on the surface of damp compost, and just press the seed down, without covering the seed with soil or compost. Germination is usually around 14 days
