Pheasant's Eye
Adonis annua grows to a height of 25 cm. It has bright-green, finely dissected leaves which are borne on a branched stem that can reach up to 50cm. The distinctive flower, with its dark red petals surrounding a central mass of black anthers, has the appearance of a miniature anemone. Flowering is normally mid-summer. The leaves and roots are poisonous to humans and livestock.

From Late Summer TO Mid Spring
It can be grown from seed sown at any time from late summer to mid-spring, probably the earlier the better. Always sow on calcareous soils that are not too heavy.
