This is a fast growing ground covering plant but could become invasive if not kept under control, it spreads by putting out runners. The glossy leaves are oval in shape with some varieties being a mid green, but others ranging to a dark green with purple markings. The flowers grow on short spikes. 'Pink Lightning' has evergreen green crinkly foliage and spikes of soft rose-pink flowers from mid to late Spring
