Bugle Chocolate Chip in the GardenTags plant encyclopedia

Ajuga tenorii 'Valfredda' syn. Ajuga reptans 'Valfredda', Ajuga reptans 'Chocolate Chip'

Bugle 'Chocolate Chip'

This is a fast growing ground covering plant but could become invasive if not kept under control, it spreads by putting out runners. The glossy leaves are oval in shape with some varieties being a mid green, but others ranging to a dark green with purple markings. The flowers grow on short spikes. 'Valfredda' (or 'Chocolate Chip' as it is also sold as) has chocolate-purple coloured foliage - the more sun the darker the foliage - and spikes of pale blue flowers from mid to late Spring
