Spring onions, also known as scallions, green onions, or salad onions are actually very young onions, harvested before the bulb has had a chance to swell. The white bulb and the green leaves are edible. The flavour is similar to onion, but milder. 'Red Toga' is a red spring onion, tender, and mild-flavoured, adding colour to a salad, or mild onion flavour to a stir-fry.
