It climbs via tendrils. It bears umbels of small, greenish-white flowers in Summer, followed by 4-8 mm dia. round speckled fruit containing 2-4 seeds, and that can be green, blue, purple, pink or yellow with black or brown speckles - it can have many different colour fruit on the same plant.
