Anemone 'Ruffled Swan'

Windflower 'Ruffled Swan'

Many species of anemone can be found in gardens and often as houseplants. They provide colour throughout the season from early Spring into Autumn. There are hundreds of cultivars to suit most growing conditions. Among the best known summer anemones is A. coronaria, a tuberous-rooted plant, with divided leaves, and large poppy-like blossoms. There are also double-flowered varieties, alpine varieties, varieties for hot dry conditions and even for woodland settings. 'Ruffled Swan' bears semi-double flowers, white with lilac-blue undersides, around 9cm. dia. in Summer and into Autumn

Planting in Autumn

From Early Autumn TO Mid Autumn

Plant corms in moist compost in pots or in groups in open ground where they are to flower about 1in deep, keep moist. Soaking the corms before planting will speed up germination.

Propagation by Division

From Late Summer TO Early Autumn

Divide and replant the corms when flowering has finished.

Flowering
