Dwarf Anubias
Anubius can be found growing in rivers, streams and marshes in the tropics and are sold as aquatic plants for aquarium and terrarium. They produce broad, thick, dark leaves that come in many different forms. In aquariums, they are usually attached to rocks or bogwood. They prefer subdued lighting and can also produce flowers underwater. If growing in an aquarium they should be placed in shaded areas, otherwise algae will develop on the leaves. Dwarf Anubias plant's thick short-stemmed dark green leaves are some of the smallest and most compact in the Anubias species, growing only to 3.2 inches (8 cm) for a total height of 4.7 inches (12 cm).

Planting
From Early Spring TO Late Winter
If you are buying Anubius plants, look for plants with lush green leaves, a thick rhizome and a healthy set of roots. They may be offered already attached to bogwood. These can be placed directly into their new home. If they are supplied in plastic containers, they will need attaching to wood or lava rock first. They should be sited in a freshwater tank with a temperature range of 72 - 78 degrees fahrenheit and a pH range of 6.5 - 7.8. Plant in aquarium gravel, aquarium substrate, attached to rocks or driftwood. If planting in substrate, make sure the rhizome is on top of the substrate.
