Friar's Cowl

Arisarum are small tuberous or rhizomatous perennials. They form dense clumps of long-stalked, heart- shaped or arrow-shaped leaves,and clusters of small; flowers wrapped in hooded spathes. Arisarum Vulgare - Friar's Cowl - is a rhizomatous plant that bears flowers with a purplish-brown or olive green striped spathe about 5" long, with an open upper part that looks like the friar's cowl after which it gets its common name
