Planting

From Early Spring TO Early Spring

Plant shrubs in a sunny site. Dig a hole bigger than the space required for the roots, and fork in some good compost or manure before placing the shrub in the hole, and back-filling with soil. Water the shrub well, and make sure that for the first two years the new shrub is getting at least 1" water per week. A new shrub will usually fruit in the third year.

Propagation by semi-hardwood cuttings

From Late Summer TO Mid Autumn

Semi hard wood cuttings are taken from the current years growth from late summer to mid autumn. The bottom of the cuttings is hard and soft on the top. With a sharp knife take a cutting of about 14cms, remove lowest leaves, dip end into rooting hormone, and place round the edge of a pot filled with a suitable compost, water well. They must remain moist until rooted. Place under glass but in semi shade.
