Axonopus Compressus

 

Tropical Carpet Grass

Axonopus Compressus is a tough, stoloniferous grass with flowering stems that can be up to 45cm tall. It forms a dense mat that seldom reaches a height of more than 15cm. It is often used as a permanent pasture, groundcover, and turf in moist, low fertility soils. It responds well to cutting. It is often used as a lawn, makes a good ground cover under trees, particularly in shaded situations.

Best planted by laying turves of seed grown grass. Beds should be well prepared and finished in a sandy substrate above moist but light and well drained soil. Suitable for a sunny site but especially tolerant of shade.
