Banksia lemanniana grows as an open shrub or, less commonly, a small tree with a spreading habit to 5m tall. The flowers are green-yellow in colour but turn grey with age and smell of honey, and drip large amounts of nectar. The buds are a rich chocolate brown in colour until the yellow flowers push through.
