Shrub Begonia 'Argenteo-Guttata'
https://www.araflora.com/p2578/begonia_argenteo_guttata https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/begonia-argenteo-guttata/ Begonia 'Argenteo-guttata', or Angel Wing Begonia, is a hybrid cross between B. aconitifolia and B. coccinea. The leaves of Begonia ‘Argenteo guttata' are the same shape as those of stinging nettles, although much more attractive. They look as if they are covered with a sprinkling of snow. The red of the leaves' underside can sometimes be seen on the upper surface of the leaves. Begonia ‘Argenteo guttata' can become extremely large for a begonia but can also be kept small for a terrarium. It produces large numbers of flowers with a cluster of yellow stamens or a yellow pistil at the centre. Begonia ‘Argenteo guttata' is a cultivar, a variety produced by selective breeding. Its attractive leaves have silver markings on a green background. The contrasting underside of the leaves is red like the stems. The red underneath sometimes shines through the leaves so it is visible from above, creating a highly colourful effect. Many begonias have pink or white flowers but those produced by Begonia ‘Argenteo guttata' are bright red.
