Propagating by seed

From Mid Spring TO Mid Summer

Green varieties of kohlrabi are sown outdoors from mid Spring to mid Summer for harvesting in Summer. The hardier purple varieties are sown from mid Summer for harvesting in Autumn and Winter. Sow in rows 30cm (12in) apart, and thin seedlings as they grow their true leaves, eventually thinning to 6" apart

Planting

From Late Spring TO Early Summer

Seedlings started off in the greenhouse should be hardened off gradually before being planted outside. Plant 6" apart and at least 1' between rows. Firm the plants in well, and give them a really good puddle of water.
