Campsis is a deciduous, vigorous climber with compound leaves, similar to those of an ash tree, and, in late Summer and Autumn, clusters of red, yellow or orange showy trumpet-shaped flowers. 'Summer Jazz - Gold' in the "Summer Jazz" series, is compact and not as vigorous as other varieties. It bears showy rich golden-yellow trumpet-shaped flowers from Spring, lasting well into Autumn.

Sow seeds under glass in Spring in moist compost. Do not let the soil dry out.

Campsis can be propagated by hardwood cuttings. Cut well-ripened young shoots 30-60cm long (1-2ft). Dip the cut end in hormone rooting powder before inserting it 15-20cm (6"-8") deep into soil in a cold frame. The following Autumn plant the young plants out.
