Fish Pepper
A small upright shrub with glossy green leaves of varying sizes depending on the variety. Chillies tend to be long, narrow, tapering fruit. The single flowers are an off-white (sometimes purplish) color while the stem is densely branched and up to 24ins tall. 'Fish' pepper is an unusual heritage pepper very popular with African Americans and particularly prized for seasoning fish and shellfish dishes.The leaves are variegated green and cream - sometimes speckled, - and the peppers can be in a variety of colours. from cream to yellow, orange , green and red, and some having very little "heat" and others being much "hotter" - from 5,000-30,000 SHUs - on the same plant! The peppers are quite small and stubby (around 3" in length).
