Celosia argentea var. cristata (Plumosa Group) 'New Look'

Brightly coloured flowers resembling feather plumes appear from mid-summer to early autumn. Only annual varieties of C. argentea are cultivated in Britain as exotic looking summer bedding plants which require a warm, sheltered position. Other species need to be grown as pot plants and sited in a warm location. Plumosa Group celosia (commonly called feather celosia, plumed celosia or feathered amaranth) are compact,and have narrow-pyramidal, plume-like flower heads (4-10” long) made up of tiny, densely-packed, brightly coloured flowers in shades of cream, yellow, orange, red or purple. throughout Summer and into Autumn. 'New Look' bears purplish-bronzey leaves and bright red flower plumes.
