Musical Note Plant in the GardenTags plant encyclopedia

Clerodendrum incisum 'Macrosiphon'

Musical Note Plant

Slow to come into leaf in spring but this plant's interest lies in the buds which look like pure white musical notes in dense clusters atop the stems. The buds open at night to reveal pure white flowers with 10cm long tubes and often last well into morning. An ideal plant for the patio where it can be enjoyed on a warm summer evening. Can bloom almost continuously throughout the warmer months. This tropical plant will need to spend its winters indoors in most areas.

Planting

From Early Spring TO Early Spring

Unless you can provide a minimum outdoor temperature of 15C, it is best planted in pots which can be overwintered indoors. Plant in a rich soil or compost that remains moist and is well drained. Place it in a situation where it gets plenty of light, especially in winter.
