Colletia Paradoxa
Anchor Plant
Colletia Paradoxa is a rare, leaf-less shrub with flattened, blue-green stems that function as leaves. The stems resemble boat anchors or jet planes, hence the common names. It is an evergreen shrub with woody main stems, growing slowly to about 2.5m tall and wide. The flattened stems collect sunlight, and the sharp spines at the ends keep animals away. In Autumn, the plant produces masses of tiny white flowers, which are sweetly scented.

Planting
From Early Spring TO Early Spring
Plant your anchor tree in a position where pets and young children are unlikely to run into it. It should be grown in reasonably fertile soil that is well drained. It hates waterlogged soil. Full sun is best but it can tolerate some shade if planted in hot regions. Small plants can be planted in a pot using ordinary cactus soil.
