Smoke Bush 'Candy Floss'
Cotinus - Smoke Bush - is a showy, large, bushy shrub. The leaves differ by variety from golden yellow to deep plum, and often change colour through the growing season. All cotinus need full sun and warmth to perform. They produce panicles of fluffy flowers. 'Candy Floss' is a handsome tall shrub with soft purple leaves turning scarlet in the Autumn. Enormous conical, fluffy pink flower clusters, resembling candy floss, cover the plant in mid - late summer. Introduced in 2014 a cross between C.Grace and C.coggrygria 'Daydream' by Alan Posthill and Hillier Nurseries.

From Early Summer TO Late Summer
Tiny clusters of pink flowers on longish stems, giving the appearance of smoke, hence the name.
Propagation by cuttings
From Mid Summer TO Early Autumn
Take soft wood cuttings in spring to early summer. Cleanly cut up to a 10cm long stems, remove lower leaves and pinch the tip out, dip the stem into rooting hormone, fill a container/pot with suitable compost, make holes around the edge of it and plant the cuttings, water in well, cover with a polythene bag and place somewhere warm, lake the bag off twice a week to air the cuttings. Keep the cuttings moist until well rooted.Harden off when well rooted and pot on into individual pots increasing the airing to let the leaves to develop. Remove rotten, dying or dead cuttings regularly.

In early to mid spring soak the container grown plant for 1/2 hours before planting in the soil which has had a spadeful of compost dug in first.
