The ground types tend to be the larger fruits. The climbing varieties need strong trellises for support and the fruit requires netting i.e. fruit hung in net bags tied to the trellis for support of their considerable weight. The 'North American cantaloupe', common in the United States, Mexico, is a round, orange-fleshed melon with a "net-like" (reticulated) light grey skin
