Flowering
From Early Spring TO Late Winter
Cyclamen can flower at any time of the year, depending on the species and variety. Most cyclamen flower in Autumn and Winter, but there are some Spring and Summer flowering varieties.
Planting
From Early Spring TO Late Winter
The tubers should be planted with the tips slightly below, or at, the soil surface. Ideally, plant with the tis a bit above soil surface level, and then add 1-2" of grit or gravel.
Planting in pots
From Early Spring TO Late Winter
A good compost for growing cyclamen would be 3 parts John Innes No.3 with 2 parts sharp potting grit and either 2 parts of leafmould, or 1 part peat.
Propagating by seed
From Early Spring TO Late Winter
Seeds should be sown fresh, as soon as the capsule is ripe, and, preferably, before it splits. Seeds stand a better chance of germinating if soaked for 24 hours in warm water (with a drop of washing-up liquid in the water) before sowing. Seed should be sown on top of the compost and then a thin layer of grit put on top.
