Copper Bush Honeysuckle

‘Copper’ is a dwarf bush honeysuckle cultivar that is noted for its copper-red new growth, yellow flowers and attractive fall color. It is a suckering, densely-branched, deciduous shrub that slowly grows to 2-3’ tall. Panicles (cymes) of yellow trumpet-shaped flowers (to 1” long) bloom in late spring to early summer.

Planting young plants

From Early Autumn TO Late Autumn

'Diervilla' can be easily grown and should be planted in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. It can tolerate some drought. Wide range of soil tolerance. New plants are best planted in autumn to allow to establish before blooming the following year in early summer. Spring planting may result in no blooms for two years.

 

Propagation

This plant will spread by underground runners or stolons. It freely suckers therefore it may be propagated by transplanting suckers in the autumn.
