Disphyma is a prostate succulent ground cover. It is monotypic with one subspecies (crassifolium) in Africa and the other (clavellatum) in Australia & New Zealand. Its natural habitat is mostly saline or rocky coasts, occuring in every state. It has round leaves, green to red-tinged, all red when stressed and pink, purple or violet flowers in spring. It is not yet popular or well tested in gardens or pots compared to its cousins like Carpobrotus.
