Purple Hopseed Bush

A beautiful shrub originating in Australia with bronzy-green foliage which turns deep purple red in Autumn and winter. In hot seasons masses of pale pink bracts are formed around the flowers from mid to late summer. Hardy in coastal and relatively mild parts except in severe winters and a risk from sudden (early) frosts. May be hardy elsewhere with wall shelter or good micro-climate. Likely to be damaged or killed in cold winters. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -5°C (23°F)

Planting young plants

From Early Spring TO Early Spring

Plant out young plants in spring in full sun, in a sheltered position which offers protection from cold winds. Suitable for coastal regions in temperate climates. Likes a moist but well drained soil, acid to neutral. Can foprm a useful and attractive hedge if planted 1 meter apart.
