Eremophilia - Emu Bush - is a native of dry areas of Australia, and as such is drought tolerant. They can be prostrate, or upright, and they flower in Summer, having unusual tubular flowers that grow from stalks on the leaf nodes, in shades of red, pink and magenta, sometimes with coral or yellow markings. Some varieties can grow to 15', but the usual size is up to 10' high and up to 6' wide 'Aurea' is the most common of the Eremophila species. It prefers dry climates but can tolerate more humid conditions.The flowers appear in Spring and are yellow, tubular, with conspicuous red spots in the throat, and open from buds that are green, turning yellow before they open. The foliage is bright green and glossy

Propagating by cuttings
From Early Spring TO Early Spring
Eremophila can be propagated by hardwood cuttings. Cut well-ripened young shoots 30-60cm long (1-2ft). Dip the cut end in hormone rooting powder before inserting it 15-20cm (6"-8") deep into soil in a cold frame. The following Autumn plant the young plants out.
