Crown Imperial 'Striped Beauty'
'Striped Beauty’ is a tall hybrid with pale yellow-orange flowers which are heavily veined with a deeper orange. Grows to a metre tall with leathery green leaves. Fritillaries are flowering bulbs, some with grass-like leaves, some with lance-shaped leaves, and nodding bell-shaped flowers, either solitary or in clusters. 'Fritillary Imperialis' - or 'Crown Imperial' has a sturdy upright stem that bears a plume of leaves - somewhat like the top of a pineapple - under which is a circle of pendant yellow or orange flowers.

Delicate bell shaped single flowers purple chequered in pink appear in spring. The flowers are about an inch and a half long.

Plant the delicate bulbs on there sides carefully to four times there depth.

From Early Autumn TO Late Autumn
Sow seed under glass in Autumn in damp compost for planting out in Spring. Be warned - the seedlings look like grass when the leaves first appear!
