Helianthemum nummularium 'Cerise Queen'
Rock Rose 'Cerise Queen'
There are over 100 Helianthemum species, and the numerous hybrids and cultivars derived from them are widely grown as ornamental plants, popular in rockeries. They are best grown in well-drained soil in full sun, and have a long flowering period from spring to summer. Numerous cultivars have gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. They are bushy or spreading evergreen shrubs with small paired leaves and saucer-shaped flowers borne in short racemes in spring and early summer. 'Cerise Queen' forms hummocks of silvery-green, evergreen foliage reaching around 30cm in height. Double flowers of strong pink, with yellow centres are borne from spring through to mid-summer.
