A genus of hardy and tender annuals, evergreen and deciduous shrubs or small trees. The tender, evergreen species such as H. rosa-sinensis, are popular conservatory or house plants in temperate climates. The hardy species such as H. syriacus are suitable for annual or mixed borders.'Azurri' is one of the latest to bloom. The flowers are sky blue in late Summer and Autumn. 'Azurri' will thrive on most soils but is particularly useful for alkaline conditions.
