Impatiens sodenii

Poor Man's Rhododendron

Impatiens is a beautiful annual that provides colourful flowers to enliven beds, borders, window boxes and tubs throughout summer and into early autumn. Impatiens like shade and moisture. If wilted, they quickly recover back into shape after watering. Impatiens sodenii is a frost tender shrub (often treated as a perennial) that can grow as large as 2.8m tall. It has semi-succulent stems bearing dark green leaves in whorls and wide pink flowers with slender spurs. The flowers bloom throughout the year at first emerging pale pink and fading to nearly white.
