Hard Rush in the GardenTags plant encyclopedia

Juncus Inflexus

Hard Rush

Juncus can be annuals, deciduous or evergreen perennials. They are clump-forming, often having cylindrical leaves, and bearing clusters of small brown flowers in Summer. Can be grown as a 'marginal' (at the edge of a pool or pond). Juncus Inflexus - 'Hard' or 'Blue' Rush - is a tall evergreen perennial plant, native to Britain. It can help maintain optimal pond water conditions. It has slender, grey-green furrowed stems and clusters of brown flowers from late Spring to mid Summer. It is a good habitat for pond-life - including dragonflies
