Kalanchoe carnea

Big Leaf Kalanchoe

Original:One of the largest Kalenchoes, it is an upright growing succulent with green glabrous leaves that have blunt scalloped margins reflexed under. Showy pink flowers in terminal racemes rise above the foliage in summer. New:A very interesting succulent quite unique. Growing upright with very small flower tips. Because of the toxicity of this species and its hybrids, and especially of the flowers, it has been declared a noxious weed in Australia.

Planting young plants

From Early Spring TO Early Spring

Use a cacti and succulent potting mix, or your own mix which drains easily (part sand). The panda plant is a slow grower which will only need re-potting once every 2 years and then less once it matures. If garden planting, put in a well draied site. The plants look better and will flower regularly in full sun with some irrigation.

Propogation by cuttings

From Early Spring TO Early Spring

Leaf cuttings can be taken and planted in new soil during spring. Give the leaf cutting a week of drying out before re-potting, then you can expect them to begin rooting within 4 weeks.
