Spanish Vetchling

Lathyrus articulatus is known as 'Pink pea' and it sports little red and white pea blooms with segmented pods. It grows as an annual to 60cm in height. The stems are winged and the lower leaves lack leaflets. This lovely, lower growing variety is happy supporting itself when growing through other open type shrubs.

Propagation by seed

From Early Spring TO Mid Spring

Easily grown from seed, either directly into the soil in early Spring, or sown in the greenhouse and transplanted as young plants. The seeds benefit from pre-soaking or chipping with a sharp blade.

 

Planting out

From Mid Spring TO Mid Spring

Plant out in mid-spring if planting plugs. Add support from the beginning to encourage the plants to grow upright. Pinch out growing tip to encourage side-shoots.
