Leucojum aestivum
Summer Snowflake
Snowflakes are bulbous plants in the Amaryllis family. They resemble snowdrops, but show apparent differences. Flowers are bell shaped and are white, with green or yellow markings on all petals. They also have strap like foliage. They are much taller than snowdrops and produce clumps very reliably. They will grow in sun or partial shade, although naturally grows on the edges of woodlands. Leucojum aestivum is the Summer Snowflake, although it actually flowers towards mid to end of spring. It is a tall species, ranging between 60-90 cm depending on the cultivar.
