Tall, flowering perennials. A single, unbranched stem from a bulb of overlapping scales, with narrow, pointed leaves growing spirally along the length of the stem. Flowers are large, showy, and usually fragrant, and in a range of colours: whites, pinks, reds, yellows, oranges, and purple. Flowers have six petals and prominent stamens. The flower buds appear at the top of the stem, and the lowest bud opens first, the other flowers appearing in succession up the stem. TIGER LILIES HAVE POLLEN POISONOUS TO CATS
