Cardinal Flower

Lobelia cardinalis is an upright, clump-forming plant with fairly glossy leaves tinged with purple, and spires of bright red, two-lipped flowers 5cm in length. This plant is easily propagated by seed or by dividing out the young plants which form around the older mature plants each year. Although a perennial, they can be short lived.
