Barbary Nut is to be found across some of the coastal regions of the Mediterranean. They are much shorter than other Irises and their proportionately large blue flowers, which appear in early spring, usually only open if the day is warm and often not until late afternoon when they are absolutely gorgeous. Plant in hummus rich soil, in full sun to light afternoon shade. Water in and keep moist during active growth, and relatively dry during dormancy.

Plant in early Spring. Prefers to be grown in the garden rather than in a pot. Likes a full sun to partly shaded position, and must have a well drained soil.
