Transformer Flower
Nigella is a deciduous, hardy annual with green needle-shaped foliage. They have inflated seed heads which are very attractive and last for some weeks after flowering. They are easy to grow and self-seed readily. They also make excellent, long lasting cut flowers. 'Transformer' sports yellow flowers over dark green ferny foliage on 50cm tall stems. The seed heads are ornamental and dry well for dried flower arrangements.

Propagation by Seed

Sow seed where the plants are to grow in spring. In southern Britain and sheltered gardens elsewhere, sow seed in late summer in the growing position. Thin the seedlings to 20cm apart. To grow N. damascena as spring flowering pot plants, sow seed in a cool greenhouse in early autumn.
