Planting Season (Spring)
From Early Spring TO Late Spring
Mondo grass should be grown in partial to full shade, but can withstand full sun in cooler areas, if they receive sufficient water. The darker black forms should be grown ideally in full sun to enhance their darker colour. They should be planted in well draining, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5-6.5).
Propagation by Division (Spring)
From Early Spring TO Late Spring
Using a fork dig up plant, try to keep the root ball as complete as possible. Split the root ball at the centre with a sharp knife or a spade. Replant the plants to the same depth as the original and keep well watered until established.
Flowering Season (Summer)
From Mid Summer TO Early Autumn
Small bell like white or mauve flowers will appear on small flower scapes that rise level with or above the foliage, and this will be followed by the appearence of tiny gloss coloured berries.
