Opium Poppy 'Swansdown'

Papaver somniferum is a subtype of opium poppy which grow to about 60 to 90cm tall and has thick, hairy stems and lettuce like leaves. The seed pods are well-suited for crafts and dried floral arrangements. Most annual varieties will readily self-seed. 'Swansdown' is the opium poppy with snowball powder-puff blooms, followed by beautiful silvery seedpods from mid-summer.

Grow them in a position with deep, well-drained, fertile soil in full sun, they can also be grown in large containers.

From Early Spring TO Late Autumn

Sow in pots in autumn or sow directly in spring. Sown in spring the plants will flower mid-summer. If sown in autumn they will flower from late spring onwards.
