Pisum sativum var. macrocarpon 'Sugar Ann'
Sugar Snap Pea 'Sugar Ann'
Peas are an easy crop to grow, very productive, and if planted in succession give pickings from mid to late summer. There are two main types of pea, dwarf and climbing, the later needing supports. In addition round seeded peas tend to be the hardy varieties and are the early peas; wrinkled seeded being the later type, being second early and main crop. Mange tout are an edible pod variety always best picked young before the seed swells. 'Sugar Ann' , an RHS AGM variety, is a round, fleshy, heavy-cropping sugar-snap pea that can be eaten immature when it is still stringless, or left to mature when it is sweeter, but will need to have the strings removed

Planting outdoors in spring
From Mid Spring TO Mid Summer
Plant container grown peas in mid Spring in triple rows about 4" between seedlings. Don't let them dry out.
Propagation by seed
From Early Spring TO Early Summer
Early round seeded peas can be sown in early Spring; and wrinkle seeded, second early or main crop varieties are best sown in mid Spring, when the ground has warmed a little. Sow in shallow trench about 2" deep and 10" wide sprinkle seed in the bottom to end up about 4" apart.
