Potentilla 'Blazeaway '

Potentilla 'Blazeaway '

Potentilla, or Cinquefoil, flowers resemble small wild roses, in yellow, orange, pink or white which bring an abundance of colour to the garden from late Spring, through the Summer and into Autumn. The five petalled flowers are usually about 2.5cm across and carried in loose clusters, or individually. There are several herbaceous to semi-evergreen perennials and one shrub (P. fruticosa), all are easy to grow if given a sunny spot. 'Blazeaway' is a beautiful hardy perennial with strawberry shaped foliage and cheerful bright orange-yellow flowers suffused with orange-red flecking.

Flowering

From Late Spring TO Mid Autumn

Potentilla flowers freely through the summer, often well into autumn. Cut back flower stems, except for P. fruticosa varieties, as flowers fade.

Planting

From Late Autumn TO Early Spring

Plant from autumn to spring in any moderately fertile and well-drained soil except P. crantzii, P. cuneata and P. nitida, which need a gritty, poor soil if they are to produce a good display of flowers. All potentillas prefer a sunny situation.
