Firethorn 'Saphyr Orange'

Pyracantha is an evergreen, thorny shrub, also known as Firethorn. Useful as a hedging plant it has white flowers in Spring, followed by very colourful berries - yellow, orange or red - that give the shrub its common name of Firethorn. The berries provide colour all through Winter - if not eaten by birds! 'Saphyr Orange' has white flowers in late Spring / early Summer, and bright orange berries from early Autumn.

Propagating by semi hardwood cuttings

From Mid Summer TO Mid Summer

Semi hardwood cuttings are taken from the current years growth from late summer to mid autumn the bottom of the cuttings is hard and soft on the top. With a sharp knife take a cutting of about 14 cms, remove lowest leaves, dip end into rooting hormone, and place round the edge of a pot filled with a suitable compost, water well, they must remain moist till rooted, place under glass but in semi shade.
