Pear 'Kieffer'
Most pear trees are deciduous, and naturally can grow up to 17 m. For garden cultivars the size of the fully grown tree is decided by the rootstock (usually quince). They can be grown as fan-trained, or espaliers, and can also be grown in pots. Most pear varieties require a second compatible variety as a pollinator. 'Kieffer' is a culinary pear with fragrant white flowers in spring. Fruits are oval shaped, with a yellow-green colour and hint of red on the skin.
